I tweeted a few minutes ago that this was one of the best films I’ve ever seen. I was probably being hyperbolic, but the fact that it included Time Bandits certainly meant it had a serious effect on an emotional level. Well, ok, to be perfectly honest, while there was definitely strong emotions coming from me, very little of it had to do with Time Bandits.

If I was reviewing this as a movie, I’d probably temper things a bit, but it definitely struck a chord in me where it moved beyond a cute web video into something more…cinematic. In some ways, I felt a shared experience that only some of my favorite films always seem to leave with me, and I was definitely not expecting that. I almost wanted to compare it to Band of Outsiders, but outside of the fact that this person never attempted to pull off a heist, there has to be a more apt comparison than Godard. I just can’t find it.

I also love the fact that it seems so effortless and easy in a lot of ways, but as a once-upon-a-time filmmaker, I can’t imagine the amount of footage she had to sort through, and the amount of editing that was involved. To get the right 30 frames from each day had to be an incredible experience in editing and memory.

Anyway, I was definitely moved by it, and quite possibly inspired, but to do what?
